If its failing while loading windows its most likely an invalid resolution for the monitor. Try booting into safe mode or a monitor it works on. Then System->Run->Regedit
browse to HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> Video and change DefaultSettings.YResolution to 600 DefaultSettings.XResolution to 800 and DefaultSettings.BitsPerPel to 16 and DefaultSettings.VRefresh to 60
If you're not comfortable with what you're doing you can back up the registry by selecting the root subkey and export in file menu.
GeekSquad are very incompetent people to work with, and highly over priced. I tried once to have a cpu tested, the base cost of any work they do is $90 and up. Only person I know of that did have them service a laptop had the laptop returned to them completely unusable. Most smaller independent computer stores are more reliable and more knowledgeable staff.
